The Ukrainian government on Monday launched a website in partnership with crypto firms FTX and Everstake that will channel donations to Ukraine's central bank as the country fights the Russian invasion.
On the "Help for Ukraine" website, users can currently make donations in 10 cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, ether, tether and dogecoin. "Cryptocurrencies play an important role in Ukraine's defense," Ukrainian Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation Oleksandre Borniakov said in a statement.
"Cryptocurrency assets have proven invaluable in facilitating the flow of funds to Ukrainian citizens and soldiers and in raising awareness and interest in the global community," he added.
Crypto company Everstake, one of the largest in Ukraine, will allow users to make donations in cryptocurrencies other than those listed on the site. The site also plans to add the ability to donate non-fungible tokens (NFT) in the future.
The Bahamas-based exchange platform FTX, founded by US billionaire Sam Bankman-Fried, will convert donated funds into dollars and funnel them to the National Bank of Ukraine. The Old Ukrainian cryptocurrency exchange platform is also part of the initiative.
